ShotSpotter technology may make it to Durham

ShotSpotter, a technology that detects gunshots and can direct police to the location they occurred, is being evaluated in Durham.

Supporters say this technology could speed up police response times to incident locations and potentially save lives.

Durham Police Chief Patrice Andrews says, “We are at a point where we have to try something”.

This year, so far, 96 people have been shot in Durham and 17 of those people have died.
